Nazaré
🇬🇧 This cake was inspired by Nazaré, a beautiful fishing village, with one of the biggest and best beaches in the central region of Portugal, where I often spent holidays.
The first tier represents the floral and colorful embroidery on the aprons that the women of Nazaré wear over the seven skirts of their traditional costume. The Nazarenes had the habit of waiting on the beach for their husbands and sons when they returned from fishing. This is represented in the painting on the second tier
At the top, there is a fisherman, with his typical black cap and a net over his shoulder.
Nazaré gained worldwide visibility when surfer McNamara made the biggest wave in the world on a sandy bottom, with about 30 meters, at Praia do Norte, in 2011.
🇵🇹 Este bolo foi inspirado na Nazaré uma bonita vila piscatória, com uma das maiores e melhores praias da região centro de Portugal, onde muitas vezes passei férias.
O andar de baixo representa os bordados florais e coloridos dos aventais que as mulheres da Nazaré usam por cima das sete saias do seu traje tradicional. As nazarenas tinham o hábito de esperar na praia os maridos e filhos, da volta da pesca. Isto está representado na pintura do andar de cima.
No topo, encontra-se um pescador, com o seu típico barrete preto e a rede ao ombro.
A Nazaré ganhou visibilidade mundial quando o surfista McNamara fez a maior onda do mundo em fundo de areia, com cerca de 30 metros, na Praia do Norte, em 2011.
