My contribution to the fantastic “Children’s classic books Dreamland challenge” Thank you Carolina Wachter for inviting me!
The book I choose as inspiration was one of my favourites when I was a kid. I had it in books and on vinyl records I heard over and over again, especially when I was sick in bed.
The story begins with the scene I have represented in my piece: the thief Hotzenplotz mugs Kasperl’s grandmother and steals her valuable coffee grinder. Valuable because in addition to grinding coffee it played her favorite song and was a gift from Kasperl and Sepperl (These two characters are used a lot in glove puppet theater for children and encompasses the “good”). All the story is about how these two friends try to get the grinder back and the whole odyssey and adventures they go through to get it
Another challenge of this collaboration was to invent a new character. My imagination took me to incorporate the little mouse, who while Hotzenplotz robs Grandma, tries to prevent him from escaping by tying a rope around his foot. If he succeeds, this story will be over before it begins. 😉
I hope you like it! (more pictures on my Facebook page)
