I had a very difficult time, with many false starts, putting my piece together. The shadows behind the wire fence represent the people who died in these camps … women, children, men, the elderly and infirm. In the foreground, swatches of prisoners’ uniforms showing the primary identification markers. Most prisoners wore a combination of two, some as many as six, and would have had the addition of letters for where they came from, as well as their tattoo number on a strip underneath it all.
