Stars and Stripes – A Fault-line Cake made of fondant

I always mix Satin Ice fondant with modeling chocolate (50-50) and have never had to be concerned about the paste drying out. This time I wanted to keep the colors true, without the addition of a yellowish tone, so I used only fondant. I definitely prefer the combination paste.

I never heard about mixing the two mediums… It sounds interesting! I think I’ll give it a try 😊
Unique design for your cake. Love it 😍

Perfect!

Mis dulces tentaciones

Clara, be prepared for the mixture of the fondant and MC to be very soft at first. Let it sit for an hour or so in a nylon wrap or baggie and then it should be fine for use. What I like about it is that there are never cracks or elephant skin and the rolled out dough is still workable after being left out in the air for a day or two. It’s great both for modeling and for covering cakes. Have fun!

Thank you all so much for looking and commenting :)

Very pretty! 😃

Very pretty design.
I have used 50/50 modeling chocolate and fondant making figures, but I’ve never covered a cake. My family always, always peels away the fondant from my cakes, and it is never eaten. Even my homemade chocolate mmf from my last cake was mostly completely discarded. So definitely not worth it for me to spend the extra time and money to do this.

Pretty cake and interesting idea of 50:50 mixture. It must improve the taste, I guess.
