This is my first time participating in the collaboration of the Bulgarian cake artists “My Bulgaria – Ancient and Young”.
As my subject I have chosen a small part of our glorious history – Khan Krum and the Battle of Varbitsa pass 811.
On my model I have depicted the defeat of the Byzantine army through the reproduction of a miniature of the Manasses chronicle (“The Armies of Khan Krum persecutes and injures Nikiphor’s son and successor Stavraki”) and the triumph of Khan Krum over Emperor Nicephorus I Genik. As a model of Khan Krum, I used the wax figure, which is located in the “Yard of the Cyrillic” Museum in Pliska.
Everything in my project is hand-modeled and hand-painted.
