I was bored because the weather here has been so dismal. One day like spring, the next day, winter again. So I decided to have some fun with sugar. I made a gumpaste plaque, then drew a chickadee with pencil and edible colour pens. I had seen a bronze antiquing technique done on some ornately carved furniture and wondered, could I replicate that on a cake? I iced the cake in white buttercream, then went over with a thin layer of yellow buttercream. I dusted the yellow bronze, then took a sharp pointed knife and drew circles. Added some molded yellow roses for a touch of spring.
