My piece for the World cancer day Collaboration is a copy of a picture of a Kintsugi vase that I found online, Kintsugi is a longlasting Japanese tradition of repairing broken pottery that treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object. No attempt here to hide or disquise the damage, all the work is done to celebrate the repair and revival. The picture of the vase that I was recreating was accompanied by a pair of white hands to hold it, this image captured me and that’ s the story behind my piece. For this vase I choose carefully my flowers, all have their deep meaning, first I choose forget me not’s (the name say’s it all), Lotus flower that symbolizes rebirth and strong will, Daffodils that has that symbolizes rebirth and new beginnings and the pansy flower that means remembrance.
