Hello everyone, here’s my piece for Couture Cakers International collaboration this year, which is organized by very talented Heba of Sweet dreams by Heba! My inspiration is from “Chinese Garden” Spring 2005 collection of Alexander McQueen. The dress was really similar to a Japanese Kimono although the title says “Chinese”. Actually I saw this sculptural headdress by Philip Treacy as a part of A.McQueen’s special exhibition at Metropolitan Museum of Art in NY a few
years ago and was very impressed. Then I read the article about this, Philip said he was inspired by visiting Kyoto in Japan.
No wonder why I felt so familiar to this since I’m from Kyoto.
I hand painted patterns inspired by the dress on the surface of sugar paste, also hand painted topper inspired by the headdress on gumpaste and decorated with wafer paper rose & kimono
collars. Hope you like it!
