Last year marked a new beginning for me, I was taken very ill and it was touch and go for a week. I had had symptoms for a very long time but had not been diagnosed with Lupus until 3 months after my hospitalization. I read as much as I could on the ailment and realized that not many people know about it. So wanting to commemorate 10th May which is World LUPUS Day, together with Zelda we organised a collaboration and some wonderful artists collaborated.
With this creation I have wanted to symbolise the countless symptoms and reactions that lupus sufferers have to put up with before being diagnosed, something which can take years. Once diagnosed your complete life is turned upside down, and now more than ever you have to go down the “straight and narrow path” of routines and habits represented by the middle tier. Lastly, the top tier represents how lupus sufferers put on a brave face even if they feel terrible inside and they hear “You don’t look ill.”
