The pearl effect is one of my favourite ways to create a pretty look on my cakes and works well on Wedding cakes especially.

To say I was a little nervous when I started dripping the gold over the tops an understatement. The pearl effect is quite a time consuming to complete and I didn’t want to strip it off and start again, so I had my heart in my mouth when I had a go.

I am really pleased with the finished cake and I’m planning to use this effect a lot more. Gold works so well with pink so I finished the cake with the soft pink apple blossom and rose buds to complete the romance.
