February 4th is World Cancer Day. Sugar artists from all around the world came together to create floral masterpieces dedicated to those suffering from or who have suffered and conquered the terrible disease.

This was the piece I created. The inspiration is from the Japanese art called Kintsugi, or broken pottery. Broken pottery is filled with a gold filler and put together again into something which looks more beautiful than before.

Isn’t a cancer survivor’s life just like that? Through the suffering, through the pain, through the struggle emerges a person who knows more about life than you and I do. They have literally been through the fire and been back.

For this edible creation I made cosmos, ginger lilies, Bauhinia, orchids and dischidia vines. I hope you like it as much as I loved making it
