Charlie is just crazy about planes. With his books on them, his model Biplane and his desire to create paper planes with his pencils and paper. He sits at the coffee table on a parquet floor dressed in his coat and hat to make his play as realistic as possible when stuck indoors. Perhaps it was a rainy day!
The biplane is 2" long and made out of pastillage. It is a scaled down representation of the plans that I found online for a child’s toy. Pastillage was also folded to create his paper planes to make them appear as realistic as possible. The coffee table has no internal supports and is also created using pastillage. Charlie himself is built using Saracino Pasta Model. Each tile of the parquet floor was individually crafted and royal icing was used to stick them to the boards. The Ri was allowed to come up through the tiles to represent the accumulation of wax that naturally occurs with parquet.
I was delighted with the Silver Award.
