I’m torn whether to call this piece “Til Don’t Us Part” or “Going to the Chapel” – what do you think?
As I show in the above picture, I was inspired by a La Catrina bride doll. I enjoyed so much researching this piece & looking at all of the diffent styles of Las Catrinas. She is beautiful even in death and interestingly is a symbol that you cannot take wealth with you & in death we are all equal, rich & poor.
This is my 1st year in Sugar Skulls. A cake dream come true! But also an emotional year as my father passed 8 months ago. Dia de los muertos has a new personal meaning to me now.
This is a tribute to my parents love as they are a great example of being together in good times & bad always.
I pushed myself in this piece to sculpt figures (standing was also a challenge for me!) I experimented with wafer paper giving texture to the chapel. I’m also very new to flower making so these were a 1st for me as well.
It’s exciting & intimidating to be in a group with so much talent! I hope you enjoy mine xo
