I made this for a young girl turning 8. Her mom wanted a pretty, girly, but elegant mermaid cake. I really loved working on this, totally underestimated the time for the scales and ruffles but it was a labour of love. It was one of those cakes I was sad to see go. The topper I made from Fimo clay so the birthday girl could keep it. The starfish I used moulds I got from The Old Piping Bag and they were so easy to use!
