Can we talk about a few of my favorite things?? I think creating Sesame Street Cakes may rank up there for me!
I actually started making cakes because for my daughter’s 1st birthday I ordered a hideous elmo cake from a bakery and thought I’d have better luck trying it on my own. Haven’t may of us started caking exactly that way??
I’ve been fortunate that my children have loved Sesame Street for may years and I’ve become attached to these characters. Cookie Monster perhaps being my favorite!
For this cake, I had originally planned to do 2 separate cakes for 2 of the birthday boy’s parties but then decided last minute to stack the cakes on top of each other. I was thrilled with that last minute stroke of genius! Especially bc I was floundering for how to put the cakes together cohesively. It worked perfectly that I could remove the whole top tiers for serving at the 2nd party. Win-win!
Cookie Monster is made of RKT and fondant. The cookies….well perhaps it’s a hack…are actually chocolate chip cookies! And the mini cookies are Cookie Crisp Cereal. I’m not sure if anyone would be upset by that? Of course they are food safe and delicious and the birthday book loved it!
