When I started designing this cake, I was given the instruction to make the dinosaurs “not cartoony” which I was really excited about. I love realism and texture, so adding that to the dinosaurs was fun!

The other thing I had in my head was to keep the background simple, but I really wanted to add a volcano for height and more dimension since the dinosaurs were 2D. I love how the orangey-red lava compliments the name and age, contrasts with the blue of the cake, and ties everything together!
