Little Rosalie had a “bring your baby doll” birthday party and her momma asked me to make a cake “pink, girly, and with a dolly on top.” I tried hard to keep this from looking like a baby shower cake, but just was never confident that I managed that. WASC cake, torted, filled, and iced with traditional American butter cream. Dolly, balloons, and bows are all hand-molded fondant. I’m showing a picture of the back because it shows the buttercream “ruffle” I put around the side of the cake before I piped the shell borders.
A am so in love with this cake. I want to know how to make those shiny balloons! Such a beautiful shade of pink too. x

Thank you both! Lesley, I can’t believe you aren’t cringing at the crap photography here. (Wait, you probably are, but are too politely English to confess it!) I could NOT get this cake to photograph without being blurry! I swear I took 40 pictures. User error, I’m sure!
I love your Little Doll, She is Precious!
