Animal Rights Collaboration - The Royal Bengal Tiger

I chose the Royal Bengal tiger because….
1. Tiger being the national animal of my country, India and
2. The tiger is also considered sacred, represented with the Goddess of Power, Durga.
3. Its beauty, its strength, its powerful eyes, I wanted to challenge the artist in me to bring that out!

I have always had great interest in all kinds of animals. 15 years ago I was fortunate enough to attend one of Valmik Thapar’s tiger conservation conferences at a hotel in Chennai, India. He has spent decades following the fortunes of India’s tiger population.
He has written 14 books, produced and narrated documentaries for Animal planet and National Geographic. I had watched most of his documentaries and that was what drew me to his conference. The impact that his conference had on me to realize that we are losing our tigers, we are losing our national animal, we as Indians have to make a decision and then a change….. DO WE WANT THE TIGER OR NOT and if we want the tiger we need to make changes…… TO PROTECT IT!

These beautiful creatures are dying due to poaching and loss of habitat. They have a right on earth as much as we do! Save the Tiger!
I want to dedicate this piece to Machali; she was a Bengal tigress who lived in Ranthambore National Park in India. She played a key role in the regeneration of the tiger population in the park in the early 2000s, and was celebrated with titles such as Queen Mother of Tigers, Tigress Queen of Ranthambore. She was considered India’s most famous tigress, and on her death was considered the world’s oldest tigress living in the wild.
I am sure Machali’s message to the world would be
“I have a RIGHT to be on earth too! I can’t live in a CONCRETE jungle!”
