This is my contribution to the Sugar Skull Bakers 2016, Day of the Dead collaboration.

It’s such a beautiful Mexican tradition that celebrates our memories of all loved ones passed. Whilst we don’t celebrate this I’m the UK I am endlessly fascinated with the haunting beauty of the painted sugar skulls and was delighted to be invited to take part in this years collaboration.

She is made primarily from homemade modelling chocolate and Satin Ice sugar paste and is hand painted using cocoa butter and dusts. Her floral headdress is predominantly made up of native Mexican flowers all handcrafted from sugar.
