I made this cake for the Dia de los Muertos festival which takes place on November 1st and 2nd around the world. I covered the cake with black Satin Ice fondant and gems, and used wafer paper for the Papel Picado and the fan on top of the cake, as well as the confetti. The Catrina topper and her owl are hand cut and hand painted on Satin Ice fondant then decorated with nonpareils in her hair band and earring. Using glow in the dark paint, the beauty comes out even in the dark to celebrate.
