This is a cake I made as a gift for my Sister in Law for her 50th birthday. She celebrated her birthday with a British themed party, so this was my inspiration for the colour scheme, which I love. My SIL also collects buttons and enjoys crafts, so I wanted to incorporate that into the design. The bottom red ruffle tier was my first time doing the rose ruffle, and although it took forever, I love the effect. The button tier is comprised of lots of fondant vintage buttons, made using a mould. The next tier symbolises the Union Jack, with a knitted and lace effect. The teapot and teacup is made using a polystyrene base covered and decorated with fondant. I loved designing and making this cake for a very special person, who I call my Soul Sister.
