The theme for this 40th birthday cake was 007 ‘shaken but not stirred’. I wanted to convey the glamour of a cocktail party, without a literal translation of James Bond on the cake. The birthday girl was happy to give me free reign, so I used elements such as edible sequins, beads, pearls and jewels to give it glitz, but also a paired down slightly deco aesthetic for a more elegant interpretation.
The black and white twisted band is a nod to Bond’s bow tie. (Couldn’t ignore him completely now could I?!)

Inside was a vanilla bean sponge with white chocolate buttercream, fresh raspberry preserves and white chocolate ganache.
