Matt and his wife Marie and their kids like to spend weekends getting lots of fresh air,
exercise and mostly out of breath and covered in mud!
They often enter military style obstacle course challenges which are organised around the country.
So to celebrate Marie’s 40th he asked me if I’d make a cake incorporating some of the challenges they have done including the ‘Spartan Race’, ‘Tough Mudder’ and ‘Pain and suffering’ (sounds like corporal punishment to me!!).

The cake was a delicious combination of rich chocolate fudge sponge filled with salted caramel buttercream (with extra caramel sauce) covered in dark chocolate ganache.
