My client wanted a birthday cake for her mom that was different & reflected her ‘sassy’ personality. She loves purple, & her family has had a bakery for generations, so the pressure was on me to create something that would wow her! The design was inspired by the adorable topper we found on Etsy, & some of my cakes where she liked certain elements.

I was so happy to do the bottom tier in a different version of my sugar glitter & wafer paper technique. It’s so versatile & really pretty! This time I used a gorgeous purple sugar glitter mixed with gold & white pearls, & wafer paper hydrangeas lightly airbrushed in a pearlized lavender. Beautiful gumpaste orchids complete the design.

Both tiers are lemon cake with blueberry compote filling.
