I absolutely loved making this cake! my first time making a David Austin rose which I have wanted to make for a while now. The recipient of this cake loves the variety called ‘Gertrude Jekyll’ which is climbing rose. Its beautiful with a ruffled centre.
Decided the rose had so much detail that the cake needed nothing else on it just lots of green leaves going across the cake with buds which looked stunning against the pure white background.

the cake was a delicious lemon sponge soaked in lemon syrup with Limoncello, layered with lemon curd and buttercream. Covered in white chocolate ganache and sugarpaste.

I got a lovely thank you message from the lady which as always just makes your day when you hear back from someone about a cake, because that’s why I love making them.
