Here is my contribution piece “Handy Pandy” for Sweet Fairy Tales cake collaboration organized by Lizzo Marek.
Handy spandy Jack-a-dandy
Loves plum cake and sugar candy,
He bought some at the baker’s shop
And out he came, hop, hop, hop.
I chose this rhyme because I thought a little boy who loves sweets would make a cute sugar piece. I also love miniature stuff, so I wanted to make some sweets with fondant. The most challenging part was to make the tiny candy jars out of blown isomalt, and to make the isomalt windows. I wanted them to be clear enough to be able to see the cakes from the outside.
Sweet Fairy Tales is a collaboration of sugar artists to re-create some of your favorite Nursery Rhymes into sugar. These amazing pieces became a beautiful book and now it’s available on Amazon.com . All proceeds go directly to www.projectnightnight.org
A wonderful non-profit that provides blankets, a stuffed animal and a book to children in need. See the full gallery on www.sweetfairytales.org or @sweetfairytales
