Hello friends! Hope you all are doing fine. Being away from cake decoration for last 3 months (doing a Patisserie diploma at LCB, London), couldn’t catch up things here at CD much. But got to come back to ‘cake-dec’ for my entry in CI and I am so thrilled to inform you that I won Gold for my very first competition at CI yesterday! Such a great honour to receive it, I cannot express my gratitude in words :) :)
Participated in Class A – International where I had to make a cake which represents my own country, I made one with the theme Unity in Diversity.
Decided to make a big size lotus, the national flower, representing the nation through tricolour, showing an array of religions coming out of it, living happily together. Top tier representing vibrant colorful culture through stained glass effect with folk dancers silhouettes, along with another diversifying element – languages. Bottom tier showing famous monuments with different cultural arts like Henna and Warli. Finally finished it with the pleasant and welcoming Rangoli design on the board.
I completed the execution juggling the time between my school classes in approx 20hours of work, but thinking, finalising and coming up with the concept and design took almost a week.
