When your mom’s birthday and her retirement day after having taught for 37 years falls on the same day one really wants to create something special .She loves gardening and we have a window like the one in the cake picture where she keeps small potted plants so combined with inspiration from Eva Salzer’s cake I tried to replicate it all with cream .Carving the window from a block of cream was very difficult and I was sure it would fall apart ,putting the rods was even more stressful but all’s well that ends well and every effort worth my mom’s smile when she saw the cake .
