This is the cake I made for Birmingham Cake International 2016! It was marked Not To Schedule due to the head overhanging the board. The maximum size had to fit within a base area of 24" square so I misinterpreted the rules….D’oh!!! Despite it not being awarded anything, I received very positive feedback and enjoyed making it and sharing it with everyone at the show!

The cake had an internal frame made from plastic piping, plastic plumbing joints and MDF. It was built up with Rice Krispies and cake then covered in sugarpaste and textured. It took me HOURS using various sized straws, piping nozzles and circles before using a wheel tool to create all the lines on the skin. It was all airbrushed once the sugarpaste had dried and crusted over then finished off with various dust colours to add the depth and shading. I finished off the mouth and eyes using piping gel and the soil is crushed double chocolate chip cookies. Hardest part was trying not to eat it!!!
