The big South By Southwest festival is going on here in Austin, & it pretty much has downtown in a chokehold. Everyone here fears to go near it, & I have never been because nobody will brave the traffic to go down there! We live about 30 minutes from downtown.

A sweet lady from California called me to make her husband a cake for a surprise party the company was having for him since he was here in Austin instead of home for his birthday, working for his company, Vans Shoes. She wanted his favorite chocolate-peanut butter combination, & we decided on creating a shoe box.

I was really happy with how this turned out. The edges were so super sharp that I hated to score them to make the ‘lid’ of the box look more realistic. When I texted her the picture she couldn’t believe it was a cake! I heard it was a great hit. And I survived the delivery in to South By Southwest, too! The party was on the outskirts, & I had no trouble at all getting in and out.
