RNLI Cake Collaboration - Whitby Harbour Skyline

Whitby in the North Yorkshire Moors, UK is one of my favourite places in the whole wide world. So when I was asked to contribute to a cake collaboration to raise funds for the RNLI it just had to feature Whitby. (RNLI?? The Royal National Lifeboat Institution saves lives everyday around the coasts of the UK, despite having royal in their title they receive NO funding from the UK government and rely solely on charitable donations.)

The cake has the George and Mary Webb lifeboat fighting through the heavy North Sea, whilst the houses packed into the nooks and crannies of the steeped cliffs of Whitby look on. All over seen by the haunting Whitby Abby and it’s Dracula history. The top section is a lantern cut from a sugar sheet which has been edible printed using an image painted by the fabulous artist Kate Lycett http://www.katelycett.co.uk. Please read on to see how you can support this vital service. June xx

Sugar Shipmates are proud to be supporting The Lifeboat Fund’s 150th Anniversary Appeal, celebrating the start of this charity in 1866. Cake decorators from across the UK and Ireland have joined together to support this vital charity. You can see all the creations at http://www.facebook.com/RNLIcakecollaboration
The RNLI rescues 23 people on average every day. Its volunteer lifeboat crews are ready to respond to shouts in all weathers and at all times of the day and night. Please visit our page to read more about their amazing work.
