Ever since I saw Rachel Teufel’s amazing geode wedding cake, I couldn’t take my mind off of it. I HAD to find a way to express it in my way. What came to mind was stone and minerals, and so, tried to make this cake look like a slab of concrete/marble (or as a friend put it, a plastered laterite stone block) with a corner cut away to show the geode showing from the inside. Edible silver leaf was added to reinforce the feel of mineral. I love the color of amethyst, and it is also the gem for February, my birth month!!
