This is my contribution for the Artist collaboration of “For the Love of Children” to celebrate Dr. Suess Birthday and stories from childrens books we grew up and loved..
I’ve always loved the story of “The Little Match Girl” since i was a child and each time i read it I always shed a tear ..
•Her Figure was done in Gumpaste and was dressed in Rice Paper, the cake was covered with Royal Icing and textured using uncooked (raw) Isomalt grains. Royal icing roses was also used to enhance the look of the cake. The coloring was minimal using only pearl dust and petal dusts.
•"The Little Match Girl", a Hans Christian Anderson story of a young girl who sells matchsticks for a living. Hungry, cold and ignored by the crowd she lits matches to keep her warm and until on the last match stick she lit, she fell into a dream and saw all her hopes and wishes came true. In the morning the people saw herin the corner of the cold alley, lifeless but smiling like as if she saw an angel in her dreams….
