Lover's Eye cookie

Lover's Eye cookie

Cookie cup-like bases iced with glaze and hand painted.
The cookie “domes” are like cups holding the eye painting and freehand sculpted fondant human heart. Fondant was also used around the top edges of cookies and to join them together. This was conceptualized and created for a local art exhibit with a “Love” theme. I was inspired by miniature eye paintings made in the 17 & 1800’s.

Thanks! Heba, I make a lot of weird stuff outside of cookies/cakes so I sometimes like to bridge the two. :D It’s supposed to just provoke feelings, thoughts and is subjective. I guess it is kind of creepy now that I see it as a photo. ;)

well now this sure is interesting Kristi. What you have done here is so clever. I have just looked up miniature eye paintings to see what this is about as I, too, didn’t understand it. Now that I have seen the inspiration, my goodness, Wow! Brilliant work Kristi. That’s what I love about your work … always outside the box and thought provoking and thoroughly inspirational. xx

Thank you! It’s a little creepier in the photo than in real life. It was sort of a box idea when I began (locket) but it evolved. I’m not sure I fully understand it either…I just do what I feel and what comes to me sometimes.
