When my husband and I married, we were given a voucher for a beautiful home wares store, that stocks mainly french provincial style wares (which I drooled over every time I passed the window!), and one of the things I bought, was a small painting of a flowering topiary, with the title “Maison Des Fleurs”. It matched absolutely nothing in my house, but I had to have it, it just spoke to me for some reason.
It has moved from room to room in the 7 years since, finally finding it’s home in my cake studio. As I sat at my desk last night, I happened to glance over at it, as I had a thousand times, and it FINALLY occured to me that it read “House of Flowers”. I bought that painting 7 years ago, not knowing that the thing I wanted was a house of flowers, and now I do <3
