My daughter Melissa’s birthday was yesterday. I have now been making birthday cakes for her for 53 years and kind of running out of design ideas. So I just did a simple design in her favorite flavors. Chocolate cake, blackberry buttercream filling and piped rosettes. The sides are iced in Sarah Bernhardt chocolate glaze from Alice Medrich’s book Cocolat. I added the crystal M to fancy it up a bit. She loved it.
