This is my last cake for the year. A non traditional Christmas cake, but anyone who knows me will agree this cake is very much a reflection of my personality and style. I’m incredibly proud of this cake because it is the first full size hand drawn and painted image using lustre dusts and cocoa butter. I was inspired by Calli Hopper and her amazing work to give a more detailed painted image a try and I was so pleased with my efforts it has given me a bit more confidence to keep at it. This was done free hand and an original design using cake lace accents to bring the image to life.

The cake is Red Velvet with Cranberry and Raspberry sauce, whipped hazlenut ganache and vanilla syrup. It was a huge hit with the family, not a crumb left! I used lustre dust to colour the ganache exterior then using a toothpick, scratched up the surface to give it a bit more of a rustic look to go with the country style blooms and beautiful holly leaves.
