I’m very honoured to be involved with this special collaboration… Cakes against violence.
Imagine……Inspired my finished piece, I was also so taken by the notion of #Porte Ouverte, which means open door… Whilst the attacks were still being carried out in Paris, brave people were inviting strangers into their homes, businesses and hotel rooms, giving them shelter by tweeting the hashtag out to anyone who needed it. It quickly became used as a symbol of support from around the world. I chose graffiti to symbolise peace as it evokes emotional responses whether you love or hate the medium. The John Lennon graffiti is self explanatory as an ambassador for all that is peace! ‘Imagine all the people.’ Piece is hand paintedwith airbrush highlights.
The idea of organizing this collaboration came after the terrible terrorist attacks in Paris on November 13th 2015. A date we will never forget. After Paris and other recent attacks in several cities, world-wide, we wanted to spread a message of peace, solidarity and anti-violence. Through our sugar creations, 80 Cake Artists from around the world, hope to bring a moment of peace and sweetness to this mad world.
