In this gravity-defying cake, the bodies of Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum are cake. The hedgehog they’re standing on is completely made of fondant and has a back full of individually, hand rolled quills – took an entire night! The flamingo has armature, Alice is fondant; made without moulds and the twins’ head is styrofoam and fondant. The legs are fondant. :)

This cake was entered in a small competition here sponsored by the British Wives’ Association. It won, which was nice, but the cutest thing was the ladies not wanting to cut their bellies to eat the cake. Heh heh.

I recognise the board could be SO much more vibrant with more detailing… the next one. The inspiration for the cake was artwork by the incredible Bobby Chiu – one of the artistes who worked on Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland.

PS: I’d forgotten to add the black to the flamingo’s beak – added it after the photoshoot. I was running short of time!
