Hi dear friends cake decorators,

I am very happy to introduce you to my two friends Chrainn and Ellyllon, who brought me the GOLD award at Cake International NEC Birmingham in the category of small exhibit. This was my very first competition and I must say I am trilled to receive the award as I worked very hard on the exhibit. The idea came into my head a long time ago, when I was a young girl I was obsessed with woodland creatures, fairies and elves and was living in my own imaginary woodland world. I worked over a month to create the composition, as I had to deal few times with breakages and had to completely re-do and re-paint both of my figures and the tree fairy house. To make the figures I used Saracino modelling paste and for both of the figures I’ve used different modelling techniques, to make the hair, I also used two different techniques. For the elf clothes I’ve used home made modelling chocolate and the fairy’s dress is made from renshaw flower & modelling paste, The only cutters I have used are to make the tree leaves. All the rest of the parts of the composition, including the figures are made without using any moulds or cutters. The glass window effect I achieved with leaf gelatine and the fairy wings are made from gelatine mixed with green shimmer powder. My idea was to use as many different techniques and materials for making both figures. I hope you like them.
