My piece is called, “I knew him (and he was strange)”
With the focus on the sugar skull, I wanted to create something that would excite a clash of culture and imagery, a twist on Shakespear’s classic fictional character Yorick.
When Yorick’s Skull is exhumed it evokes a monologue from Hamlet on mortality. This is the focus of my piece.
I dedicate it to my late father with whom I shared my love of creative pursuits (and also skulls) ~ “A fellow of infinite jest, of most excellent fancy”.
