This is the second year in a row we were asked to make a cake for a terminally ill little boy. He loves Dinosaurs and I found a wonderful tutorial on The Royal Bakery’s online store. We deviated a little bit from the tutorial and instead of making the head out of polystyrene it was made out of sugar paste and then covered in a thin layer of more sugar paste, and textured with an onlay mat. The entire cake, and Dinosaur was hand painted (no airbrush involved :-)) Cake consisted of 4 layers of chocolate sponge and 1.5kg of chocolate ganache (filing and coating). Upon delivery, the mother and father of the little boy were so excited. Sadly the little boy is completely paralysed and cannot speak but his eyes lit up when he saw his Dinosaur cake. Hopefully, next year, we will be able to make his cake for his 11th birthday.
Kind regards
