Everyone Meet Neil the three toed Pygmy Sloth created for the Bakers Unite to fight collaboration to help create awareness for animals and supporting the WWF

When asked to be part of the bakers unite to fight team I was thrilled at the idea of making the three toed pygmy sloth. They are these tiny versions of the larger sloth species and now critically endangered due to the deforestation of mangrove trees.

This small group of tiny Sloths inhibit the island of Panama and recent studies suggests that there are fewer than 500 Pygmy Sloths left on the island, but the figure could be actually smaller than 100 animals so these animals definitely need a helping hand

It was definitely a love, hate relationship throughout the making, sometimes adding the fur individually and sometimes in strips but the painstaking task was all worth it when the isomalt eyes went in and I instantly fell in love. The decoration alone was in excess of 70 hours without the Frame building, sculpting, carving and ganaching but the over all finish was worth it and if I went through a bit of pain to create a small difference in terms of awareness then I’m truly happy, so please meet Neil the cheeky pygmy three toed sloth

You can see lots of the others collaboration work over on the Bakers Unite to Fight Facebook page

Enjoy!
