I loved making this builder cake for my friends son who turned 18 last week. He is an apprentice builder and spends a lot of his time with a trowel in his hand bricklaying, so when she asked me for a cake with a hand sculpted model of her son in his work clothes I couldn’t help but get carried away making bricks, trowel, a bucket of water, sand and a spade :-) He was really pleased with his cake especially the dirt on his trouser knees and his trowel :-).
It was made from an 8 inch vanilla madiera cake and all hand decorated to look like a building under construction, placed on a hand sculpted paved floor effect board.
