Oh, this theme is right up my alley! As a former horse-crazy girl & Miss Rodeo Georgia 1988 (I know, yeee-haw!) I love anything to do with horses! So when my client said she was using a horse theme for her baby’s first birthday, I was thrilled! The only thing she specifically asked for was the topper to be a jumping horse with her daughter on its back, wearing the red tutu she would have on at the party.

The reason she wanted a horse theme is her daughter was born in the Chinese Year of the Horse. So my first thought was an Asian theme in red & gold. But she wasn’t crazy about that idea, so then I thought about the red & golds in a sunset. So I asked her if I could hand-paint scenes on the cake. She loved it!

The horse on the plaque is my tribute to my fabulous blood bay horse named ‘Bee’, that I had for 27 years, until he passed away. I still miss him so much. He is all hand-painted, as is the entire bottom tier, with fondant silhouettes.

The top tier is White Velvet cake with White chocolate buttercream filling & the bottom tier is Amaretto Pecan cake with Bananas Foster filling.
