First I prepped homemade lemon curd and set it aside. After mixing up the cake batter with extra bourbon vanilla bean paste I added part of the lemon curd to the cake mix. The cake is frosted with lemon curd/vanilla bean icing and cloaked in paste lemon fondant. The recipient of this cake loves orchids, so I created three varieties of orchids, pale yellow mums, honeysuckle, and a branch of Gingko leaves as a spray for the top.
