Footed vase cake to celebrate Mother’s Day. I wanted to create something reminiscent of something you would see at your Grandmother’s home, in days gone by.
Ornate trim including custom sculpted shell design, pearl beading, frill and leaves. Accents hand painted in gold.
Roses are my mother’s favourite and were her mother’s as well.
I chose to try and replicate in sugar, the “Princess Diana Rose”… a hybrid Tea Rose with a delicate blend of cream with pink on the outer edges. Ivy and small berries were added to form the floral spray.
Vanilla bean buttercake with layers of almond/lavender crispy meringue and buttercream.
Blue fondant covered board with pearlised damask pattern. White overlay with hand painted embroidery design and cut-lace pattern.
