This was made to celebrate the promotion to Lieutenant Commander of a friend’s son, and to welcome him home after a long deployment at sea. I really wanted it to be ‘smart’ and look professional. The epaulettes are an exact replica of his new ones – had to make sure I didn’t give him an extra promotion by mistake! The dragon represents his ship – HMS Dragon – and was my first attempt at stencilling using royal icing. The cake was a real challenge but overall I’m happy with how it turned out. Thanks for looking!
