My first baby bump cake with some fondant details (just the pink shirt white bow and pink cord trim around the skirt ruffle). The foot I molded by hand to put under the skirt in fondant also. I didn’t use any directions for the foot, as I just did it by memory of a baby foot.
I frosted 1/2 sheet in pink and white marble BC icing look. then I frosted top in skin tone and white with zebra print piped in all BC. I placed these on the cake after letting set-up in the freezer, so it would be easier to keep from disturbing the icing. I then frosted the baby bump in skin tone smooth BC, and placed on the cake just below zebra print top (again after cooling in freezer).
I rolled out thin pink fondant (I should have rolled out a bit thicker as I am not used to working with fondant that much, and have never rolled out a piece this large to place on a cake). I meant to expose more flesh tone of the baby bump, but couldn’t move it once it stuck onto the BC tummy. I did mess up where I was laying the fondant to make a wavy looking tail of the skirt, so I rolled out and added a ruffle and pink cord trim to fuse the two together. This did take me more time, I don’t know how long it takes you all to do one like this, but it was good experience for me. PS. I did the bow by memory when I make material bows, and I piped black BC dots on it.
*LAST Picture is the start of the cake after I frosted this part in all buttercream.. I kind of hated to cover the bump once I got it so smooth~ lol I have more tutorial type pics to share, but don’t know if this one would be needed on this site, there are so many great ones!
