I thought I’d already posted this but I guess it was just in my imaginary life haha!
This is a cake I did last month which was fun to make but also stressful. I don’t do gravity-defying often and usually will avoid them if I can but this client was VERY keen on a gravity-defying pose for the topper for her son’s cake AND wanted him extra large too so he could stand out, so how could I say no?
Anpanman is a Japanese anime character that I am not familiar with so had to google to come up with this design. I used RKT (rice krispie treats) to model the large topper and had him on a skewer on the work dummy while I covered and detailed him. When I went to move him to the cake…NEAR disaster!…he slipped down the skewer and bumped the work table!! Luckily, my hand was there to prevent him from falling all the way off and smashing to the floor. It took me over an hour to repair him so some of the other figures are not as detailed as I would have liked but I am just thankful it was not worse.
Then of course I was on pins and needles while hubby delivered it over 20 mins away. These kinds of deliveries ALWAYS have me holding my breath until hubby gets back and is able to report that it’s arrived safely and undamaged lol.
I used the new FMM cloud cutters to cut out the tree tops and some of the bushes as well as for the clouds (of course =D).
